The Northside Independent School District (NISD) held a called board meeting on April 8, 2025, where several significant recognitions and achievements were highlighted. The meeting commenced with a celebration of student accomplishments from various high schools within the district.
The first agenda item focused on honoring students who participated in the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE). Students from multiple high schools, including Brandeis, Clark, Harlan, Health Careers, Jay, Marshall, Sotomayor, Stevens, Taft, and Warren, were recognized for their artistic achievements. The league's student athletes were commended for their performance at the Texas High School Bowling State Championships, where they secured top spots after qualifying at a regional tournament in San Antonio. Individual awards were presented, with Caitlin Toney from Brennan High School being named the 2025 state bowling champion in the girls' varsity singles category. Other qualifiers included Will Shelton from Sotomayor High School, Adrianne Gonzalez and Aiden Snyder from Taft High School, and Amber Hill from Warren High School.
Additionally, the meeting recognized the runner-up group from Warren High School, which included Atticus Whitmore, Joseph Heizer, Jordan Moreno, Ezra Haskins, Koichi Smith, and Daniel Heizer.
The meeting concluded with a heartfelt acknowledgment of the families and staff who contributed to the students' successes, emphasizing the importance of community support in achieving academic and extracurricular excellence. Overall, the meeting served as a platform to celebrate the hard work and dedication of students and educators within the Northside ISD.
