Ocean Township Early Childhood Council receives donations from Wegmans, Wawa, and Chick-fil-A

Wegmans, Wawa, and Chick-fil-A are stepping up to support the Ocean Township School District, donating food and gift cards for upcoming community events. Wegmans is contributing a $200 gift card and Wawa is providing soft pretzels for the preschool community resource fair. Additionally, Chick-fil-A is donating $75 worth of food for the Ocean Township Early Childhood Advisory Council meeting. These contributions were highlighted during the Board of Education meeting on April 8, 2025, showcasing local businesses' commitment to supporting education and community initiatives.

In other discussions, the board addressed the renewal of the food service management contract with Sodexo, which will enter its third year. While there will be no immediate changes to student meal prices, any adjustments will be proposed in May or June. The contract is designed to be a breakeven arrangement, meaning Sodexo will cover any losses incurred by the food service.

Board members expressed interest in the variety of food options available to students, noting that while price increases are tied to the Consumer Price Index, Sodexo has been responsive to feedback by enhancing menu diversity. Plans are also underway to improve the high school lunch program, including new equipment and staff additions at no extra cost to the district.
