The Las Vegas Planning Commission has approved a special use permit for a new cannabis dispensary at 7676 West Lake Mead Boulevard, Suite 101, during their meeting on April 9, 2025. The proposed dispensary, which will occupy 4,909 square feet, received unanimous support from the commission after staff confirmed that it meets all regulatory requirements, including necessary distance separations from sensitive locations such as schools and parks.
Chandler Cooks, representing the property owner, emphasized the project's commitment to safety and security, detailing plans for 24/7 surveillance and secure access. Although a dispensary operator has not yet been selected, Cooks assured the commission that preparations are underway to ensure compliance with state regulations and community standards before operations commence. The approval will allow the project to move forward to the city council for final consideration on May 21.

Staff cited that the applicant failed to demonstrate unique circumstances justifying the height modifications, which do not conform to existing development standards. The decision reflects the commission's commitment to maintaining regulatory compliance in land use projects.
These decisions highlight the ongoing development and regulatory landscape in Las Vegas, particularly in the cannabis sector, as the city continues to navigate the complexities of land use and community standards.
