City Council approves Valley View Estates residential development with 12 attached units

A new residential development is set to transform a vacant parcel of land in Westminster, Colorado, as the Westminster Planning Commission approved plans for 12 single-family attached units during their April 8 meeting. This infill project aims to meet the growing demand for diverse housing options in the city while enhancing the community's walkability.

The proposed site, located near Valley View Park and a commercial center, is designed to provide market-rate housing that aligns with the existing neighborhood. The development will feature individual driveways, two-car garages, and a mix of landscaped areas, including a 9,500 square foot park space complete with a loop trail and seating areas.

"This project is about being a good neighbor and adding to the strengths of our community," a representative stated, emphasizing the importance of creating attractive living spaces that cater to the needs of residents. The design incorporates stormwater management features to ensure environmental sustainability, with all drainage directed to a rain garden facility.

The development aligns with Westminster's comprehensive plan and addresses findings from the 2023 housing needs assessment, which highlighted the necessity for additional housing types in the area. As the city continues to grow, this project represents a significant step towards fulfilling those housing demands while fostering a vibrant, connected community.
