La Porte ISD welcomes Joseph Chandler as new principal and adds three assistant principals

La Porte ISD welcomed new leadership at its recent board meeting, highlighting the appointments of Mr. Joseph Chandler as principal of the Academy of Viola DeWalt High School and Ms. Candace Thibodeaux as associate principal at La Porte High School.

Mr. Chandler, who brings 28 years of educational experience, expressed his excitement about joining the district, citing its strong traditions and successes. He has a proven track record, having led schools to significant academic improvements and earning accolades such as the Region 6 Innovative Principal Leadership Award in 2019. Chandler emphasized his commitment to contributing positively to the La Porte community.

Ms. Thibodeaux, with 31 years in education, also shared her enthusiasm for her new role. Previously an assistant principal at Clear Falls High School, she is dedicated to fostering strong relationships and supporting student success. Thibodeaux holds degrees from Texas A&M University and Lamar University, and she looks forward to becoming part of the La Porte culture.

The meeting also introduced Ms. Brooke Watson as assistant principal at La Porte High School and Ms. Casey Dixon as assistant principal at James H. Baker sixth grade campus. Both bring extensive experience and a passion for education, further strengthening the leadership team within the district.

The board meeting underscored La Porte ISD's commitment to educational excellence and community engagement, setting a positive tone for the upcoming school year.
