Richmond Council approves PVD Food Truck events and hires new EMA director Nicholas Linacre

Richmond Town Council has taken significant steps to enhance community events and public safety during its March 4, 2025, meeting. The council approved a series of motions that will facilitate the upcoming PVD Food Truck events, ensuring that local nonprofits are prominently featured and that necessary safety measures are in place.

The council unanimously voted to grant a Class F1 alcohol license to PVD Food Truck Events for several dates throughout the summer, including May 8, June 12, July 10, and August 7, with alternative dates also considered. This approval is contingent upon securing a contract for the use of Richmond Town Hall property and ensuring appropriate liquor liability coverage that names the town as an additional insured party.

Councilor Reynolds emphasized the importance of having a solid contract and insurance in place, which was echoed by other council members during discussions. The council also agreed to draft a contract that will outline the responsibilities of the food truck operators, including covering costs for police details, rubbish removal, and portable restrooms.

In addition to the food truck events, the council discussed the appointment of Nicholas Linacre as the new Emergency Management Agency (EMA) director. Linacre, who has extensive experience in emergency services, was recommended by an interview committee and is expected to bring valuable expertise to the role.

The council's decisions reflect a commitment to fostering community engagement through local events while prioritizing safety and effective management.
