Missouri Senate celebrates youth apprentices and state champion basketball team

The Missouri Senate convened on April 8, 2025, under the leadership of President Wasinger. The meeting began with a motion from the Senator from Platt to dispense with the reading of the journal, which was approved unanimously by voice vote.

Following the approval of the journal, the Senate moved to the introduction of guests. The Senator from the second district introduced the Registered Youth Apprentice (RYA) team, highlighting their role in connecting high school students with paid apprenticeship opportunities in high-demand industries. Notable guests included Diego and Adam Romero, registered youth apprentices from Fort Zimolt North High School, along with Linda Stinson from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The Senate welcomed them with applause.

Next, the Senator from McColl introduced the Eugene Eagles basketball team, who recently won the Class 2 boys state championship, marking the first state championship in any sport for their school. The team, led by head coach Bridal Wildey, was recognized for their achievement and received a warm welcome from the Senate.

The Senator from the 24th district introduced members of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, expressing pride in their contributions and inviting the Senate to welcome them. Additionally, the Senator from the seventh district introduced Rachel Farris, the auxiliary first vice president of Brotherhood Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, who was visiting the Capitol.
