Construction begins on Sallisaw's Redbird Smith Estates with 12 homes and 16 rental units

During the recent Community Service Committee meeting held by the Cherokee Nation, significant developments were announced regarding housing projects in Sallisaw, specifically at Redbird Smith Estates. This initiative aims to address the growing need for quality housing in the area, reflecting the Nation's commitment to improving living conditions for its residents.

Currently, 12 homes are under construction in Redbird Smith Estates, featuring three bedrooms and two bathrooms, along with essential amenities such as a safer room, a master closet, a two-car garage, and a generator hookup. This project mirrors similar successful housing developments in nearby communities like Muskogee, Stilwell, and Tahlequah, showcasing a consistent effort to enhance residential options across the region.

In addition to the single-family homes, the project will also include 16 rental units, organized as eight duplexes. These will consist of eight two-bedroom and eight three-bedroom units, with at least one of the two-bedroom units designed to be handicap accessible. A playground area is also planned, emphasizing the community's focus on family-friendly environments.

The layout of the development has been carefully designed, with clear access points and sidewalks to ensure safety and convenience for residents. The Housing Authority office and a clinic will be located nearby, further supporting the community's infrastructure.
