Saline High School jazz combo nominated for state festival honors

Saline Area Schools celebrated student achievement during the Board of Education meeting on April 8, 2025, highlighting the impressive accomplishments of the Saline High School jazz combo and brass quintet.

The jazz combo, which has yet to be officially named, showcased their talent with a performance that exemplified student initiative and collaboration. Members Rokos Kozlowskis (bass), Leo Hoffman (drums), Shiloh Livingston (guitar), and Quentin Riggs (French horn) received enthusiastic applause from the audience, underscoring the importance of student-led projects in fostering creativity and teamwork.

In addition to the jazz combo, the brass quintet was recognized for their recent nomination as one of the outstanding ensembles at the state festival in Michigan. Their recording has been submitted for consideration, and if selected, they will perform in May at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. The quintet includes Marcus Stanish (tuba), Eli Zaxick (French horn), Quentin Riggs (French horn), Ben Burke (euphonium), and Yohei Kuroda (tuba). Their achievements reflect the high level of musical talent present in the Saline community.

The meeting not only celebrated these musical accomplishments but also emphasized the importance of supporting student initiatives that encourage creativity and collaboration. As the school district looks forward to the potential recognition of the brass quintet, the community remains proud of its students' dedication and hard work.
