In a recent Chelsea Public Schools School Committee meeting, a new initiative aimed at recognizing student contributions to the community was announced. Committee member Ms. Cabarrat introduced the "Change Agent Award," an annual scholarship designed to honor a graduating senior who exemplifies a commitment to public service and community engagement.
The award will require applicants to submit a 300-word essay detailing their involvement in projects that benefit Chelsea, as well as their dedication to ongoing learning, whether through higher education or vocational training. Ms. Cabarrat emphasized the importance of celebrating students who actively work to improve their community, stating, "You are the change that we want to see in our community." She encouraged fellow committee members to collaborate on this initiative and plans to share more information soon.
