Modesto Garden Club schedules annual spring garden tour and fundraising events

The Modesto Garden Club is gearing up for its annual spring garden tour, set to take place on Saturday, April 12, from 10 AM to 4 PM. This year, the tour will feature four unique homes in Modesto, offering residents a chance to explore beautiful gardens while supporting a good cause. Tickets are priced at $25 and can be purchased at local merchants, the Garden Club office, or online.

The event serves as the club's largest fundraiser, enabling them to provide $9,000 in scholarships to students pursuing studies in horticulture, agriculture, and related fields. The club, which boasts nearly 400 members, is recognized as one of the largest garden clubs in California and possibly the United States. Their philanthropic efforts include teaching gardening in 19 elementary schools, conducting therapeutic gardening in senior living facilities, and maintaining various community gardens.

In addition to the spring garden tour, the club has several upcoming events, including a vendor fair plant sale on May 3 at Modesto Covenant Church, featuring around 20 vendors and plants grown by club members. They will also host a summer table viewing event on June 11 at Del Rio Country Club, showcasing creatively set tables.

The community's support is crucial for the Garden Club's initiatives, which aim to promote gardening and healthy living among residents. The club encourages everyone to participate in the spring garden tour and upcoming events to help sustain their valuable programs.
