Coach Lauren Rosales celebrates Hamilton badminton's state title with undefeated team recognition

Hamilton High School's badminton team celebrated a remarkable achievement at the Chandler USD Governing Board meeting, clinching their second state title in three years. Under the guidance of Coach Lauren Rosales, the team finished the season undefeated with a perfect 14-0 record, showcasing their dominance in the sport. Coach Rosales was also honored as the 2024 Badminton Coach of the Year, while player Nahira S. received the title of 2024 Badminton Player of the Year.

The excitement was palpable as the team, composed entirely of underclassmen, prepares to return next season. Coach Rosales expressed pride in her athletes, emphasizing their skill and strategic play, which she described as far beyond the casual badminton many are familiar with. The board members and attendees joined in congratulating the team, highlighting the bright future ahead for the Huskies.

In addition to the badminton accolades, the meeting recognized Arizona College Prep Middle School as one of the inaugural Arizona Schools to Watch. This designation, part of a national initiative, acknowledges schools that excel in academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and organizational structures. The school's evaluation praised its supportive learning environment and commitment to fostering critical thinking skills among students. Arizona College Prep will officially receive its award at a national conference in Washington, D.C., later this year.
