Sebastian city manager reveals park concept plans to residents and council members

The City Council of Sebastian, Florida, is moving forward with plans for Riverview Park, focusing on two conceptual designs presented during a recent workshop. City Manager Brian Benton emphasized that these plans are still in the conceptual phase and have not yet received formal approval from the council. The next steps will involve gathering public feedback before any final decisions are made.

Benton highlighted that staff currently supports Concept B, which preserves the location of the Veterans Memorial, a significant point of discussion among attendees. This concept aims to enhance the park while respecting the memorial's current position, reflecting the community's sentiments.

Consultant Kyler from Kimley Horn Associates elaborated on the two designs, noting that Concept A includes relocating the Veterans Memorial and adding features like a performance stage and additional parking for events. The designs aim to balance active and passive uses of the park, catering to various community needs.
