North Allegheny students celebrate achievements and plan upcoming events

The North Allegheny School District held a work session on April 9, 2025, where student activities and upcoming events were highlighted, alongside important board considerations.

Mister Corona and Miss Faber presented the student activities report, noting that both the boys' and girls' track teams won their meet against Butler. The student council is actively planning events, including an Easter scavenger hunt and the ongoing elections for the 2025-2026 council at North Allegheny Intermediate High School (NAI) and North Allegheny Senior High School (NASH).

A notable event, "North Allegheny's Longest Table," took place on April 9 in the NASH cafeteria, inviting students and families to celebrate cultural diversity through food, music, and art. Additionally, NAI is preparing for the Project Water dodgeball event on April 16, with over 500 students registered and more than 100 volunteers.

Key Club has been involved in community service, partnering with local organizations and planning a donation drive for Caitlin Smiles. Other clubs, such as Feminade and Best Buddies, are also engaging in fundraising and awareness activities, including an Easter sale and the upcoming Best Buddies Friendship Walk on April 27.

The meeting also addressed six items for board consideration, including travel permissions for various student competitions, such as the MMS Robotics Team's trip to Dallas and the FCCLA students' trip to Orlando.

In the curriculum report, Miss Hardy informed the board about upcoming textbook votes, which will be displayed for public review for 30 days before the vote next month, in compliance with board policy.

The session underscored the district's commitment to student engagement and community involvement, setting the stage for a busy and productive month ahead.
