Wolverine Knight Foundation awards scholarships to Tolleson Union High School seniors

The Tolleson Union High School District celebrated student achievements and community support during its recent board meeting on April 8, 2025. A highlight of the evening was the awarding of scholarships by the Wolverine Knight Foundation, which aims to invest in student success. Over the past three years, the foundation has doubled the number of scholarships to two per school and increased the award amount to $5,000 for each recipient, intended for their first year of post-secondary education.

The foundation recognizes students not only for academic excellence but also for their resilience, empathy, and community involvement. This year, several outstanding students were honored, including Angel Cordova from Copper Canyon High School and Julia Solano from Tolleson Union High School, who received the prestigious Doctor Charles A. Landis Scholarship for her commitment to community service.

In addition to the scholarship awards, the meeting featured a presentation from the Distance Learning Academy, highlighting the achievements of its students and staff. Principal Colton Tongard expressed pride in the academy's progress and the dedication of its learners.

The board meeting underscored the district's commitment to fostering educational opportunities and supporting students as they pursue their goals.
