City revises event permit application in response to new Ohio building code changes

The City of North Ridgeville is taking steps to adapt to new state regulations regarding special event permits, particularly concerning the use of tents and temporary structures in city parks. During a recent Committee of the Whole meeting, city officials discussed the implications of a significant change in the Ohio building code that now requires permits for temporary structures covering more than 20 square feet. This is a stark reduction from the previous threshold of 400 square feet for enclosed tents and 700 square feet for open tents.

The Parks and Recreation Department initiated the discussion to streamline the special event permit application process, which had previously caused confusion among event organizers.
