Malden City Council honors Judy Froio and recognizes Melissa Mora's achievements

In a heartfelt moment at the Malden City Council meeting on April 8, 2025, members took a moment to honor the memory of Judy Froio, a long-time resident and community figure, who recently passed away. Councilor Condon expressed condolences on behalf of the council, highlighting Judy's deep roots in the community, which spanned over four decades. Her husband, a former school committee member, and her son, the first Wood 8 counselor, were also acknowledged for their contributions to Malden. The council encouraged residents to attend Judy's services at Spadafore Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM.

Following the formalities, the council celebrated local achievements, welcoming Melissa Mora, who was recently named the Distinguished Young Woman of Malden for 2025 and recognized as Miss Dance of New England 2024. Councilor Cica introduced Melissa, praising her dedication as a student volunteer and her commitment to dance over the past 13 years. Melissa, a senior at Mystic Valley Charter School, shared her gratitude for her family and the support from the Malden community.
