Glendale Academy parents advocate for school safety fence at public hearing

During a recent Planning Hearing Officer meeting in Glendale, community members voiced strong support for a proposed safety fence around Glendale Academy, highlighting growing concerns about school safety in light of recent national incidents.

Parents and alumni, including Jonelle Diaz, emphasized the importance of the project, which has been in development for several years. Diaz, who has deep ties to the school, described it as a "safe haven" for students and expressed hope that the fence would soon become a reality. She noted the increasing need for security measures, stating, "the world has changed," and underscored the comfort a fence would provide to parents.

Wendy Ball, another parent, shared her personal experience of losing her home in a recent fire, stating that the school represents stability for her child. She echoed the sentiments of other speakers, stressing the urgency of implementing the fence due to rising safety concerns, particularly in light of recent school shootings.

Baruhi Arabian also spoke passionately about the necessity of the fence, recalling a tragic shooting incident at a nearby school. She expressed her determination to ensure her child's safety, stating that without the fence, she might have to consider transferring her child to another school.
