Subscribe for Free In a collaborative effort to address homelessness, the Perry Tippler Middle School Choir partnered with the Day by Day Warming Shelter, raising nearly $2,000 and collecting numerous donations. The choir will present a concert titled "From Darkness to Light: A Journey of Hope" on May 22 at the Alberta Kimball Auditorium, aiming to raise awareness about homelessness in the community.
The board also highlighted innovative educational initiatives, such as the adaptive family and consumer education course developed by co-teachers Riley Loves and Ashley Dane at Bell Phillips. This course focuses on essential life skills, recently culminating in a sewing unit that enhances students' fine motor skills and confidence through hands-on learning.
In food services, the district has expanded breakfast offerings to include more protein options and fresh fruit, alongside a new lunch rotation. Feedback from second graders at Emeline Cook Elementary has been instrumental in shaping these menu changes, demonstrating the district's commitment to student preferences.
Engagement in literacy was brought to life at Menominee Elementary School, where students celebrated the conclusion of their "Kings and Queens" unit with a royal-themed tea party and ball, allowing them to experience historical traditions firsthand.
Athletic achievements were also celebrated, with seniors Talen and Jacob signing letters of intent to play soccer and tennis at UW Oshkosh and UW Stevens Point, respectively. The Oshkosh co-op gymnastics team was recognized as conference champions and qualified for the state meet, while the district's boxing team impressed at the state championship, earning a core values award and qualifying for the national tournament.
These accomplishments reflect the district's dedication to providing enriching experiences and opportunities for its students, reinforcing a strong sense of community and support for educational and extracurricular excellence.
