Will County expands Mobility Management Program to Channahon Manhattan and Plainfield townships

The Will County Executive Committee is set to expand its Mobility Management Program, with plans to include Channahon, Manhattan, and Plainfield townships. This decision, made during the April 10, 2025 meeting, aims to enhance transportation options for residents in these areas through an existing rideshare initiative.

Committee members discussed the implications of the intergovernmental agreement (IGA), clarifying that it would allow these townships to join the already established program. Elaine Bottomley, a key figure in the discussion, confirmed that the IGA includes provisions for dial-a-ride transportation services specifically for the newly added townships. The changes to the agreement are minimal, primarily involving the addition of the three townships and a revised map.

The committee plans to prepare a draft of the parameters ordinance, which will be presented at the May Executive Committee meeting, with a backup date in June if necessary. This initiative reflects a commitment to improving mobility and accessibility for Will County residents, ensuring that more communities can benefit from essential transportation services.
