During the recent Calvert County Public Schools Board of Education meeting, significant recognition was given to students from the Career and Technology Academy (CTA) for their outstanding achievements at the SkillsUSA Maryland State Championships. This event, held in March 2025, showcased the talents of over 600 students from across Maryland, with CTA students participating in 31 competitions that highlighted their technical and leadership skills.
The Board officially commended 37 students who earned awards, including bronze, silver, and gold medals, for their exemplary performance. Notably, nine students who received gold medals will advance to the national leadership and skills competition, representing Maryland as national voting delegates. The Board expressed its best wishes for these students as they continue their journey in career and technical education.

Charlie Lewis, the SkillsUSA president at CTA, shared insights into the academy's busy year, including participation in leadership conferences and regional competitions. CTA students excelled at the state level, bringing home a total of 19 medals, including five golds.
