In the heart of Dickinson, city officials gathered on March 18, 2025, to discuss vital infrastructure projects that promise to enhance the community's future. The evening's agenda was marked by two significant developments: the extension of a water main for Dickinson High School and improvements to North Industry Street.
City Engineer and Community Development Director, Mr. Sklachuk, presented a development agreement aimed at extending a six-inch PVC water main from Fairway Street to Empire Road. This project, approved by the Dickinson Public School District, is designed to support the expansion of the high school. The new looped water main will not only ensure a reliable water supply but also minimize risks associated with potential infrastructure issues. The city plans to bid this project as part of its capital improvement initiatives, with an estimated cost of $846,215. Notably, the North Dakota Department of Water Resources is expected to cover approximately 60% of the expenses through a cost-share application.

The project, estimated at $1.4 million, will be funded through a combination of special assessments and city funds. Property owners will see a total assessment of $795,000, payable over ten years at a fixed interest rate of 3.7%. Those who settle their assessments by October 1, 2026, will benefit from waived interest and penalties.
Both projects reflect Dickinson's commitment to improving infrastructure and ensuring the community's growth and safety. As the meeting concluded, the city engineering staff recommended approval for both initiatives, paving the way for a more resilient and connected Dickinson.
