Subscribe for Free Vanessa Bonilla, Program Manager for GEO Reentry Services, detailed the comprehensive support offered at the Santa Clara Day Reporting Center. The center currently serves 78 participants, providing life skills training, anger management, and substance abuse education, among other programs. Bonilla noted that housing services are available, contingent upon participants completing program requirements, with 29 individuals currently housed and 13 beds open.
Mahanoor Tariq, Program Director for STOP Area 2, elaborated on the broader network of services available across 15 counties, including emergency housing and outpatient programs. The collaborative efforts aim to place individuals in suitable treatment facilities, with 264 placements reported across the network, 50 of which are from Santa Clara.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue sharing best practices and exploring innovative solutions for reducing jail populations while ensuring public safety. The committee's proactive approach reflects a dedication to improving the reentry process and supporting individuals in their transition back into the community.
