Chloe Chen wins $5,000 scholarship at Penfield High School

The Penfield Central School District Board of Education meeting on April 8, 2025, celebrated several notable achievements by students, highlighting the community's commitment to academic and extracurricular excellence.

One of the standout moments was the recognition of Penfield High School senior Chloe Chen, who received the prestigious Friday Night Rivals Scholar Athlete Scholarship from Channel Thirteen. This award comes with a $5,000 scholarship that Chloe can use for her college education, marking a significant milestone in her academic journey.

The meeting also showcased the artistic talents of students, with congratulations extended to Max, Colin, Logan Dundon, Allison, Zoe, Ethan, Logan Joseph, Tanya, Jack, and Mason. Their photographs were selected for the "Through the Student Lens" exhibit at Image City Gallery, which runs until April 13. This opportunity not only highlights their creativity but also encourages community members to engage with local art.

In a display of community spirit, Indian Landing Elementary School raised $1,281.57 through its annual red and white basketball game fundraiser. The funds will support building mines in South Sudan, demonstrating the students' commitment to global citizenship and social responsibility.

The board also recognized the achievements of students in the DECA competition, where Brady, Olivia, Shelby, Tyler, Alan, Max, Lauren, and Gavin qualified for the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida, taking place this April. Their success reflects the district's dedication to preparing students for future careers.

Lastly, senior Artur was acknowledged for being selected to represent Penfield at the State Math League Championship, further emphasizing the district's strong focus on academic excellence.
