Seabrook plans $4M boat ramp at Clear Creek ahead of 2027 completion

In the heart of Seabrook, Texas, city officials gathered on March 4, 2025, to discuss the long-awaited boat ramp project that has been a topic of concern for residents since the original ramp was lost in early 2019. The boat ramp, strategically located on Clear Creek Channel just west of the new bridge, is designed to feature a two-lane ramp with a small parking area beneath the bridge. City officials emphasized that while the design is complete and submitted to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for review, the project has faced delays primarily due to permitting issues. The anticipated construction start date is now pushed to early 2027, a timeline that has left some residents puzzled and concerned.

The permitting process for both cities has been slower than expected, with Kemah’s permitting ahead of Seabrook’s. The new ramp will include 11 truck and trailer spots, along with additional vehicle parking, although officials acknowledged that the available parking will be less than what was previously offered. The design also incorporates a new access road and a sidewalk, promoting connectivity for future trails and enhancing recreational opportunities for the community.
