Paving improvements are estimated at $800,000, with plans to transition from asphalt to concrete to better accommodate school buses. Furthermore, the proposal includes converting athletic fields from grass to artificial turf, with an estimated cost of $1 million, and upgrading stadium facilities, including a concession stand and restrooms, for $400,000.
The need for improved storage facilities was emphasized, particularly for athletic equipment that is currently exposed to the elements. The committee noted that many existing storage buildings are in poor condition, prompting a recommendation for $200,000 in upgrades.
Roofing improvements were also a focal point, with some roofs exceeding 30 years in age. The committee is prioritizing these repairs based on the most critical needs identified by maintenance staff.
As Edinburg CISD moves forward with these proposals, the Facilities Committee is committed to ensuring that all campuses receive the necessary upgrades to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for students. The next steps will involve prioritizing projects based on urgency and available funding, ensuring that the most pressing needs are addressed first.
