Issaquah Schools Foundation invites community to Nourish Every Mind Luncheon on May 1

The Issaquah School District Board Meeting on April 10, 2025, highlighted significant community events aimed at celebrating student achievements and fostering educational support. Principal Tammy Andrew announced the upcoming graduation ceremony for the academy for community transition, scheduled for June 13 from 6:30 PM to 8 PM. This event promises to be a joyous occasion as students prepare to embark on their post-school journeys.

In addition to the graduation announcement, the meeting featured a presentation from the Issaquah Schools Foundation (ISF). Student trustee Ashna Sikka invited the community to the "Nourish Every Mind Luncheon" on May 1, where attendees will hear from K-12 students about the opportunities provided by the foundation. This event is crucial for raising funds to address educational barriers within the district and to recognize student accomplishments. The luncheon will also include a performance by Liberty High School's Jazz Choir, showcasing the foundation's impact on the arts.

Laura Gaffney, board president of ISF, emphasized the informal and celebratory nature of the luncheon, encouraging both new and long-standing community members to attend. For those unable to join in person, Gaffney highlighted alternative ways to support the foundation, including online donations and participation in an online auction running from May 1 to May 11.

The meeting also recognized the 2025 Impact Scholarship Award winners, who are high school seniors positively influenced by foundation-funded programs. This year, four students were honored: Anya from Issaquah High School, Hannah from Skyline, Rebecca from Skyline, and Matthew Fisher, known for his sustainability advocacy. Their stories will be shared at the upcoming luncheon, further illustrating the foundation's role in empowering students.
