Victor Senior High School honors students and staff at April meeting

Under the bright lights of the Victor Central Schools Board of Education meeting, excitement filled the air as educators and administrators shared a series of uplifting updates and initiatives aimed at enriching student experiences. The atmosphere was charged with a sense of community and celebration, highlighting the dedication of staff and the achievements of students.

Frankie, the principal of the junior high school, kicked off the evening with a shout-out to assistant principals Natalie Sonneville and Mark Nelson, praising their hard work and vital connections with students. He then unveiled an upcoming highlight: a performance by renowned jazz musician Herb Smith, scheduled for April 30. This event promises to engage students through workshops and a collaborative performance, showcasing the school’s commitment to the arts.

In a bid to connect students with their community, the junior high school is hosting a career day featuring 35 local professionals across various job sectors. This initiative, supported by the building council and local parents, aims to inspire students by exposing them to diverse career paths.

The student council is also making strides in fostering connections among peers. They are organizing a "mix it up day," encouraging students to participate in activities based on shared interests, regardless of their usual social circles. This initiative aims to strengthen relationships across grades and teams, promoting inclusivity and teamwork.

At Victor Senior High School, Principal Brian Cecil celebrated the achievements of students and staff alike. He recognized senior Arian Moore for receiving a National Merit Scholarship, an honor that places him among the top 0.19% of high school seniors nationwide. Cecil also highlighted art teacher Andy Redout, whose journey from graphic design back to education has inspired students through engaging art experiences.

Additionally, senior Jace Carey, already a licensed pilot, was featured in a local news segment, showcasing his aspirations and achievements in aviation. As he prepares to attend the University of North Dakota, known for its exceptional flying program, his story serves as an inspiration to his peers.

The meeting also marked a bittersweet moment as the district prepares to bid farewell to Jen Grimes, an assistant principal transitioning to a new role at Churchill Chili High School. Her contributions will be missed, but the district looks forward to welcoming Kate Pyle as the new assistant principal.
