Watertown City Council has taken a significant step towards enhancing its waste management infrastructure by approving a bid for the 2025 solid waste improvements project. During the meeting on April 7, 2025, City Engineer Justin Peterson presented the details of the project, which includes the construction of a new scale, a scale house, and necessary utilities at the landfill.
The council received a single bid from Timmins Construction, amounting to $2,299,940, which is approximately $100,000 under the budgeted amount for the project. This decision is expected to improve operational efficiency at the landfill by allowing for two scales for vehicle entry and exit, streamlining the waste disposal process.
