Belgrade Library prepares for grand opening with community programs and classes

Excitement buzzed at the City of Belgrade Library Advisory Board meeting on March 25, 2025, as members discussed the upcoming grand opening of the new library building, set for April 5. The event promises to be a community celebration, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the mayor, appearances by U.S. Senators, and a variety of activities including live music, crafts, and food trucks.

Library staff highlighted the successful transition to off-site programming during the library's closure, with over 80 participants in children's exercise programs and 60 in yoga classes. Curbside service has also been well-received, allowing patrons to easily pick up reserved items or request specific books.

In addition to regular programming, the library has been proactive in community safety, with staff trained in administering naloxone and fire safety protocols. A recent "Stop the Bleed" program attracted a record 31 participants, showcasing the library's commitment to providing essential life-saving skills to the community.

The meeting also touched on the library's outreach efforts, including a successful book brigade event that engaged families and highlighted the importance of reading. As the library prepares for its grand opening, it aims to foster a welcoming environment for all residents, ensuring that the new space becomes a vibrant hub for learning and community connection.
