Canyon City Police honors siblings Jack and Kate Dougherty with student spotlight award

The first award presented was the Canyon City Police Department (CCPD) Student Spotlight Award, recognizing siblings Jack and Kate Dougherty for their outstanding accomplishments in high school wrestling. School resource officers Ryan Chan and Jordan St. Louis introduced the award, expressing their admiration for the athletes. Officer Chan noted that this was his first year following high school wrestling, highlighting the intensity of the sport.

Officer St. Louis shared that both Jack and Kate had achieved remarkable success, each winning state titles in their respective weight classes at the 2025 Colorado State Wrestling Championship. Kate Dougherty finished her season with an unbeaten record of 34-0, securing her title in the girls' 135-pound division. Jack Dougherty concluded his high school career with a record of 46-1, winning the boys' 190-pound division.
