Barrington proclaims April 25 2025 as Arbor Day urging tree preservation efforts

The Village of Barrington is set to celebrate Arbor Day on April 25, 2025, following a proclamation made during the recent Board of Trustees meeting. Village President Karen Darch announced the recognition of Arbor Day, emphasizing the importance of trees and urban forestry in the community.

Barrington has been honored as a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation, reflecting its commitment to tree planting and maintenance. The proclamation highlights the significance of Arbor Day, which is officially recognized in Illinois on the last Friday of April. It aims to encourage residents to plant and care for trees, protecting this vital natural resource from threats such as fires, insects, and diseases.

In addition to Arbor Day, the week of April 19 to April 26, 2025, has been designated as Tree Care Week in Barrington. Residents are encouraged to participate by planting trees on their properties and supporting the village's ongoing urban forestry program, managed by the Public Works Department.

The meeting also included the approval of minutes from the previous board meeting held on March 10, with motions made and seconded by trustees.
