PSJA Early College High School students advance to national SkillsUSA competition

The PSJA Independent School District held a meeting on April 14, 2025, focusing on student achievements and upcoming competitions. The agenda highlighted the accomplishments of students from PSJA Early College High School, particularly those involved in SkillsUSA and Business Professionals of America (BPA).

The meeting commenced with a recognition of students who excelled in SkillsUSA competitions. Under the guidance of sponsor Jean Hernandez, several students in the welding category were acknowledged, including Miguel Samaripa, Sergio Yrochetta, Angel Posada, Jose Gonzalez, Luis Martinez, Gabriela Rios, and Samantha Romero. Notably, Samantha Romero has advanced to the national competition in Atlanta, Georgia, showcasing her leadership in welding.

Following this, the meeting recognized students involved in automotive projects, led by sponsor Ernesto Vargas. Antonio Villalobos, Rosa Aguilar, Ebony Eredia, and Catherine Escovedo were named as state qualifiers. Additionally, students in the welding category under Carlos Amaniego were recognized, including Brian Sigala, Rodrigo Mendoza, and Angelica Longoria. The cosmetology team, sponsored by Anna Elizondo, also received accolades, with Melanie Bravo, Kaye Requevas, Amari Rodriguez, and Leila Rodriguez being highlighted for their achievements.

The meeting concluded with a photo opportunity for the students, celebrating their hard work and dedication as they prepare for state and national competitions. The recognition of these students underscores the district's commitment to fostering skills and leadership in various vocational fields.
