The Broken Arrow Public Schools Board of Education meeting on April 14, 2025, celebrated remarkable achievements in athletics, highlighting the outstanding performances of the girls and boys wrestling teams, as well as the varsity cheer team.
The meeting opened with a tribute to the girls wrestling program, which has had one of the most successful seasons in its history. Under the guidance of head coach Troy Lyles, the team secured multiple championships, including first place at prestigious tournaments such as the J Border Wars and the Wonder Woman Tournament. They finished the season as the Class 6A state champions, with 12 out of 13 athletes qualifying for the state tournament. Notably, Emily Beckley and Kristen De La Rosa emerged as individual state champions. The team also boasts a commendable GPA of 3.6, showcasing their commitment to both athletics and academics.

Subscribe for Free Following the girls' recognition, the boys wrestling team, led by coach Rodney Jones, was acknowledged for their impressive season. They achieved a second-place finish at the Gary Tournament and were champions of the Bud Gaynor Memorial Tournament. The team produced two state champions, Jake Miller and Gunnar Wilson, and earned an OSSAA academic achievement award with a team GPA of 3.33. Their contributions extend beyond the mat, as they actively mentor younger wrestlers in the community.
The meeting concluded with a celebration of the varsity cheer team, which has made significant strides this season. Under head coach Kirsten Delahanty, the team claimed the OSSAA game day state championship and the UCA game day national championship, marking a historic achievement for the program. They also demonstrated their commitment to community service, contributing over 600 hours.
These accomplishments reflect the dedication and hard work of the student-athletes and their coaches, reinforcing Broken Arrow's reputation for excellence in athletics. The board expressed gratitude for the support from the community and school administration, emphasizing the importance of these programs in shaping the future of Broken Arrow Athletics.
