Lyman Hall and Sheehan schools celebrate community events and upcoming sports activities

The Wallingford Public Schools Board of Education meeting on November 25, 2024, highlighted a month filled with community engagement and school spirit, showcasing the achievements and upcoming events at both Lyman Hall and Sheehan High Schools.

Lyman Hall celebrated a successful month, kicking off with a faculty game on November 4, where seniors triumphed. Community Day on November 11 saw students raking leaves for 11 senior citizens, demonstrating their commitment to service. In a heartwarming gesture, on November 20, staff members collected 20 turkeys to support local families for Thanksgiving. The school also hosted a well-attended homecoming dance on November 22, selling nearly 500 tickets, and a craft fair on November 23.

Sheehan High School echoed this spirit with its own activities, including the induction of new National Honor Society members and plans for a trivia night and SAT prep courses. Their homecoming dance on November 23 was memorable, despite a fire alarm interrupting the festivities. The school’s leaf-raking initiative helped 17 families, further emphasizing their community involvement.

Looking ahead, both schools are gearing up for exciting events. Lyman Hall will host the Samaha Bowl on November 27 and a Thanksgiving Day football game against Sheehan on November 28. Meanwhile, Sheehan's winter sports season kicks off on December 5, with basketball, swimming, and wrestling practices starting soon after.

The meeting concluded with a sense of pride in the students' achievements and community contributions, setting a positive tone for the upcoming holiday season and school events.
