Rockdale County is gearing up for a vibrant April as it recognizes National Autism Awareness Month with its Adaptive Inclusive Recreation (AIR) program. Interim Deputy Director Wilson highlighted the initiative during the Planning & Development Meeting on March 13, 2025, emphasizing its commitment to providing inclusive recreational opportunities for individuals with disabilities and special needs, spanning both children and adults.
The AIR program offers a variety of social and recreational activities on a quarterly basis, ensuring that no one is excluded. Wilson noted that the programs cater to a wide age range, from five years old to adults over 18, fostering a community spirit of inclusivity. The county is also planning to revitalize summer programs specifically designed for community members with autism, further enhancing its offerings.
