Restore Clean Ohio seeks approval for new warehouse addition in Akron

The City of Akron's Planning and Economic Development Committee convened recently to discuss a significant expansion proposal from Restore Clean Ohio LLC, which operates as CRDN of North Central Ohio. The company is seeking approval to construct a new storage addition to enhance its operations, reflecting its growth from a retail cleaning business to a commercial restoration service.

The proposed addition will measure 107 feet by 100 feet and will be built at the rear of the existing structure, located in the southwest quadrant of the block. This expansion aims to provide a dedicated space for staging and storing items affected by disasters such as fire and water damage, thereby improving operational efficiency. The design includes a concrete base, white vertical metal panels, and a low-sloped gray metal roof, with ample windows to ensure a well-lit environment.

Jeff Sitz, one of the owners of Restore Clean Ohio, addressed the committee, emphasizing the necessity of this expansion to meet increasing demand for their services. He noted that the business has already created 18 jobs over the past 20 months, primarily filled by local residents, including those from the nearby Maple Valley area. Sitz reassured the committee that the company is committed to being a good neighbor, promising to minimize noise and traffic disruptions.

The committee's discussion highlighted the potential benefits of the expansion, including the elimination of outdoor storage currently taking place at the site, which has raised concerns about aesthetics and neighborhood impact. The planning staff and commission have recommended approval of the project, subject to certain conditions, viewing it as a substantial investment in the community that will contribute positively to the local economy.

As the meeting concluded, the committee opened the floor for public comments, inviting community members to voice their opinions on the proposed development.
