North Coast Housing Council adopts three key housing ordinances in special meeting

Parma City Council made significant strides in public housing during its meeting on March 19, 2025, by adopting three key housing ordinances aimed at enhancing the management structure of the North Coast Housing Connections agency.

The council unanimously approved Housing Ordinance 25-1, which establishes the position of Housing Admissions and Continued Assistance Administrator. This new role is expected to streamline operations and improve service delivery within the public housing agency. The council also adopted Housing Ordinance 25-2, which changes the job title and description of the Project-Based Wait List Manager to Project-Based Wait List Administrator, reflecting a shift in responsibilities to better align with current needs. Lastly, Housing Ordinance 25-3 was passed, changing the title of Public Housing Manager to Housing Choice Voucher Program Manager, further clarifying roles within the agency.

These changes come in light of funding challenges, as the director of North Coast Housing reported that the agency would only be able to lease up to 95% of its housing vouchers due to federal funding constraints. Despite ongoing efforts to secure additional resources, the director noted that the response has been negative thus far.

The council's actions are a proactive response to these challenges, aiming to enhance the efficiency of housing services in Parma.
