Iron County Commission proposes amendment for new battery storage project

Iron County is set to expand its renewable energy initiatives following a recent commission meeting where officials discussed the addition of a 60-acre parcel for a new utility-scale battery storage project. This development aims to enhance the existing solar project that has been operational for nearly a decade. The county, along with other tax entities, previously agreed to share tax increments generated by the solar project to incentivize its establishment.

During the meeting, the commission held a public hearing to amend the project area plan, allowing for the inclusion of the new land necessary for the battery facility.
