The gathering will take place at the Bayspring Community Center from 12 PM to 5 PM, promising a vibrant atmosphere filled with live music, food trucks, storytelling, crafts, and a video contest showcase. Liana Maris, a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee, detailed the budget and expenditures already allocated for the event. The committee has secured two food trucks, with costs totaling $1,675, and has partnered with Rhode Island Black Storytellers to promote intergenerational dialogue through storytelling. This collaboration will feature both youth and senior storytellers, enhancing community engagement.

The total budget for the event has grown to $4,800, exceeding the initial request of $3,000. Maris outlined additional expenses, including promotional materials and performances by local musicians, such as Kim Trusty and the Prism of Praise gospel choir. The council is expected to consider a request for an additional $1,800 to cover the increased costs.
