Clovis breaks ground on Horizon Behavioral Health Center for local mental health services

Clovis is set to enhance mental health services with the groundbreaking of the Horizon Behavioral Health Center scheduled for June 2025. This facility will provide crucial crisis intervention services, allowing individuals to stay for up to 23 hours for evaluation and offering inpatient care for up to 14 days. Currently, residents often have to travel long distances for such care, which can strain families and community resources. The center, operated by Community Bridges, aims to bring essential mental health services closer to home for both local residents and those stationed at nearby Cannon Air Force Base.

In addition to mental health initiatives, the city is investing significantly in parks and recreation, with a total of $5.4 million allocated for improvements in 2024 and 2025. Recent upgrades include solar lighting at walking paths and new playgrounds, enhancing the quality of life for residents of all ages. The city manager and parks committee have prioritized these projects, which are already underway and expected to continue making a positive impact on the community.

Another highlight from the past year is the successful launch of a K-5 youth sports program in partnership with Clovis Municipal Schools. This initiative has seen strong participation from families, marking a significant investment in the youth of Clovis.

To further beautify the community, the city has received $200,000 in funding for beautification programs, which encourage residents to participate in keeping public spaces clean. A community-wide cleanup event is scheduled for April 26, inviting residents to join in the effort to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.

The city has also prioritized the removal of unsafe and dilapidated buildings, overseeing 14 demolitions in 2024, with more planned for this year. These efforts reflect Clovis's commitment to enhancing the community's appearance and overall quality of life.
