Figma config 2025 conference secures outdoor event permit for Moscone Center

Under the bright lights of San Francisco's city hall, a significant event is on the horizon. The City Council convened to discuss a one-time outdoor event permit for the highly anticipated Figma Config 2025 conference, set to take place from May 5 to May 8, 2025. This annual global design conference, organized by George P. Johnson, is expected to draw over 10,000 attendees to the Moscone Center and its surrounding areas, celebrating creativity and collaboration within the design community.

The conference will feature a variety of activities, including live entertainment and amplified sound, necessitating a street closure on Howard Street between Third and Fourth Streets. Each day of the event will have a unique schedule. On Monday, setup and sound checks will occur from 9 AM to 7 PM. Tuesday will see registration accompanied by ambient music from 11 AM to 9 PM. The excitement continues on Wednesday with registration, speakers, and a DJ from 7 AM until 9:30 PM. Finally, Thursday will wrap up the event with more speakers and a DJ from 8 AM to 5 PM.

City officials noted that the San Francisco Police Department's Southern Station had no additional recommendations regarding the event, and outreach efforts to local businesses and residents were conducted well beyond the required 250-foot radius. So far, no concerns have been raised by the community.

With the staff recommending approval of the permit, the meeting also featured a virtual appearance by Brad Kurtz, the permit and transportation manager at George P. Johnson, who was ready to address any questions from the council. As the city prepares for this major gathering, the anticipation builds for what promises to be a vibrant celebration of design and innovation in the heart of San Francisco.
