Danvers Electric earns national recognition for exceptional reliability from APPA

Danvers Electric has once again been recognized for its outstanding reliability, marking the second consecutive year the department has received national accolades. During the recent Select Board meeting, officials highlighted the achievement, which was reported in the Salem News on April 2, 2025.

The American Public Power Association (APPA), a trade group representing over 2,000 community-owned electric utilities, awarded Danvers Electric for its exceptional service in 2024. The APPA's reliability team evaluates power outage and restoration data, comparing it to national statistics from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. According to Paul Zumo, APPA's Director of Research and Development, the utilities recognized for their reliability are among the best in the nation.

Danvers Utility Director Clint Allen expressed pride in the recognition, stating, "Our crews work around the clock to maintain and improve our infrastructure, ensuring reliable service for the residents and businesses of Danvers." This accolade underscores the commitment of Danvers Electric to provide dependable service, with public power customers experiencing outages for less than half the time compared to those served by other utility types.
