Lapeer High School accelerates construction on classroom and auditorium expansions

The Lapeer Community Schools Board of Education held a regular meeting on April 9, 2025, where significant updates on ongoing construction projects at Lapeer High School were discussed. The meeting highlighted the progress of various additions and renovations aimed at enhancing educational facilities for students.

One of the key topics was the high school classroom addition, which is ahead of schedule. The construction of a multipurpose space and a weight room has already been completed, allowing students and staff to utilize these facilities since early February. The board also reviewed the progress of a 10,500 square foot science classroom addition, which includes two science labs and two general classrooms. The construction is nearing completion, with final touches being made before the furniture is installed in August.

In addition to classroom expansions, the meeting addressed extensive renovations to the auditorium and other interior spaces. This includes upgrades to the fire alarm system and the replacement of over 1,400 fire suppression heads throughout the building. The board noted that these improvements are crucial for ensuring safety and enhancing the overall learning environment.

The meeting also touched on the construction of a new bus loop and parking lot, which will provide additional parking spaces for events and improve traffic flow during drop-off and pick-up times.
