League City Board approves $9984 HOT grant for Historical Society museum program

League City’s Convention and Visitors Advisory Board made significant strides in promoting local tourism during their meeting on April 16, 2025. The board approved a $9,984 grant request from the League City Historical Society aimed at enhancing the accessibility of the local museum. This funding will support the museum's operational hours, allowing it to open four times a day from Thursday to Saturday, as well as during special events.

The Historical Society's initiative includes a ticketing system that provides souvenir-style tickets to local hotels, encouraging visitors to explore the museum and learn about the rich history of League City. The board noted that this effort is crucial for attracting tourists, especially as the spring season approaches, which typically sees an increase in leisure travel.

During the meeting, board members discussed the importance of the museum as a tourist attraction and its role in the community. With a total grant budget of $100,000 for the year, the board has allocated just under $25,000 so far, leaving ample funds available for future projects.

In addition to the grant approval, the board announced an upcoming celebration of a local park scheduled for April 26, from 6 to 10 PM, further emphasizing their commitment to community engagement and tourism development.
