Franklin Township Council reviews 145-acre senior community rezoning proposal

The Metropolitan Development Commission of Indianapolis convened on April 16, 2025, to address several key agenda items, including a significant rezoning petition. The meeting commenced with the approval of previous items, passing with a vote of 6 to 1, followed by a motion to approve the remaining four items on the agenda, which was also unanimously supported.

The petitioner, Joseph Calderon, representing Manny Singh, proposed to rezone the area from the DAFF district to the DPFF district. This change aims to facilitate the development of a multifamily and single-family attached senior community, which would include 240 residential units and educational facilities such as a daycare or nursery school. The proposed development also features amenities like a community garden, swimming pool, game courts, playgrounds, and pathways.

During the hearing, no remonstrators were present to oppose the petition, and the commission proceeded to hear the presentation from the petitioner. Calderon introduced Singh and Ryan Rediger from Stuffleworth Engineering, who were available to address any questions from the commission.
