The Humboldt Unified District is set to benefit from a new partnership with the Copper State Young Marines program, which aims to foster youth development and community service. During a recent board meeting, Unit Commander Roger Rodriguez and Executive Officer Michael Myers presented the program's mission and activities, emphasizing its focus on instilling discipline, leadership, and a drug-free lifestyle among participants aged 8 to 18.
Rodriguez highlighted the program's historical roots, established in 1959, and its evolution into a recognized drug demand reduction initiative. The Young Marines program not only promotes physical fitness and academic achievement but also engages participants in community service projects, such as Toys for Tots, where they raised over $7,000 in donations last year.
