Bel Air's Board of Town Commissioners has approved a contract for sidewalk trip hazard removal, ensuring safer pedestrian pathways throughout the downtown area. During the budget work session on April 17, 2025, the commissioners discussed the annual initiative aimed at addressing sidewalk issues caused by winter heaving. The contract, awarded to Precision Concrete Cutting, will focus on removing 426 trip hazards along Main Street, Cortland Place, Leeway, and other smaller streets, with a total cost of $38,589—under the budgeted amount of $40,500.
Commissioner Klein emphasized the importance of this project, noting that it is essential for maintaining public safety and enhancing the community's walkability. The work is scheduled to take place in the spring, following the winter months when sidewalks often sustain damage.
