A new drive-through car wash is set to replace the former Applebee's restaurant at 1700 South Kohler Street in Oshkosh, following a recent approval from the Oshkosh Plan Commission. The proposal, submitted by MP Development 18 LLC, includes 20 vacuum stations and 28 parking spaces, exceeding the city’s maximum parking allowance. The commission expressed no concerns about the additional parking, given the commercial nature of the surrounding area.
The site plan also addresses impervious surface ratios, with the applicant required to reduce the ratio slightly or seek a variance during the next phase of the project. The plan includes landscaping improvements, with a focus on maintaining existing trees while introducing new plantings.

The applicant clarified that the number is based on demand observed at similar facilities, ensuring that customers have access to vacuum stations without long wait times.
In addition to the car wash, the commission discussed a separate proposal for the GO Transit station, which involves a zoning change to allow for an expansion that includes a new restroom and waiting area, as well as a second bus platform. This expansion aims to improve transit services and accommodate increased passenger traffic, particularly from intercity bus services.
Both projects received unanimous support from the commission, highlighting a commitment to enhancing local commercial services and public transportation infrastructure in Oshkosh. The next steps will involve detailed engineering plans and further reviews to ensure compliance with city standards.
