The Temple Independent School District (TISD) held its regular school board meeting on April 14, 2025, where several notable achievements by students and teams from Temple High School were recognized. The meeting highlighted the accomplishments of students in various competitions, showcasing their skills and dedication.
The session began with a celebration of the Temple High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) department, which excelled at the Skills USA state competition in Corpus Christi earlier this month. The department secured multiple first-place honors, with several students placing in the top five across various pathways. Notably, sophomore Madison Karkovsky became the first female from Temple High School to win a gold medal in precision metal technology. Other first-place winners included Jesse Tipton, Bryson Bales, and Nate Valdez in construction, while Dakota Dolt and Santiago Garcia Munoz led the automotive category. The CTE department's success was further underscored by the achievements of students in cosmetology, with several earning first-place superior ratings.

Subscribe for Free Following the CTE recognition, the board acknowledged the Temple High School Kittens, who were crowned state champions in the Dance Line State competition. The Kittens' officers won overall grand champions, and the varsity team secured grand champions in their division. The team, coached by Kelsey Bjarnley, received accolades for their impressive performance throughout the contest season.
The meeting also celebrated the achievements of the Temple High School chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA), which is sending two students to the national leadership conference next month. Mason Abbey made history by qualifying for the national competition with a sixth-place finish in fundamental word processing, while Steve Baca was named a national alternate.
Additionally, junior Kari Holloman was recognized for breaking the long jump school record with a jump of 20 feet 1 inch at the Hutto Hippo Relays. This achievement not only set a new record but also qualified her for the regional meet in multiple events.
The meeting concluded with congratulations to all the students and their teachers for their hard work and dedication, reinforcing the district's pride in their accomplishments. The board expressed hopes for continued success in future competitions and events.
